Come see it at the EDGE (Central Auckland)!!!
Part of the Metonymy exhibition 11th May (exhibition opening event 6 - 8 pm) to Saturday 23rd May.
This work attempts to address questions thrown up by migration: assumptions of belonging, the influences of cultural osmosis and the disintegration of the simple traditional notion of nationality. We were both interested in social interactions, errors and perceptions – the kind embodied by personals ads – and the contrast between covers and their contents.
We are working within the context of being citizens of the world, immigrants wherever we go, culturally broad-minded and wistful.
My collaboration with Ya-Wen. The audio track hugely influenced by Kaffka Kabasova's poem from her book Someone Else's Life.
